The Office of International Affairs and the Center for International Security and Strategy(CISS) of Tsinghua University will co-host the 273rd session of the Tsinghua Global Vision Lecture on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 14:00 to 15:30. The event will take place in the Tsinghua University Library Lecture Hall, featuring Dr. Robin Geiss, Director of the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research. During the event, Dr. Geiss will deliver a speech titled “Artificial Intelligence at the Crossroads of Peace and Security: A Multilateral Vision.” We extend a warm welcome to all interested individuals to sign up.

随着人工智能重塑国际和平与安全的根基，问题已不再是这些技术是否会改变战略格局，而是国际社会如何以全面、负责任和包容的方式加以应对。把握这一关键时刻，需要开展跨越国家、部门和学科界限的合作。盖斯博士将结合联合国裁军研究所作为联合国专门从事裁军与安全研究机构的职责定位，阐述该研究所的使命、多边主义在地缘政治竞争加剧时代的持久价值，以及联合国裁军研究所在军事领域人工智能问题上不断推进的研究工作。此次讲座还将面向新一代从业者，探讨希望为联合国工作做出贡献的学生们可选择的发展路径。
As artificial intelligence reshapes the foundations of international peace and security, the question is no longer whether these technologies will alter the strategic landscape, but how the international community will address them in a comprehensive, responsible, and inclusive manner. Navigating this pivotal moment requires cross-border, cross-sector, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Drawing on UNIDIR's mandate as the United Nations' dedicated voice for disarmament and security research, Dr. Geiss will reflect on the Institute's mission, the enduring relevance of multilateralism in a contested geopolitical era, and the evolving work of UNIDIR on artificial intelligence in the military domain. The lecture will also speak to the next generation of practitioners, exploring the pathways open to students seeking to contribute to the work of the United Nations system.
主讲人简介 | Speaker Biography
罗宾·盖斯（Robin Geiss）
罗宾・盖斯博士现任联合国裁军研究所（UNIDIR）所长，系联合国秘书长裁军事务咨询委员会当然委员、格拉斯哥大学客座教授。其研究聚焦全球安全、新兴技术与国际事务，学术论著丰富，兼任《牛津全球安全国际法手册》《战争与人工智能研究手册》《国际人道主义法年鉴》主编。盖斯博士拥有德国基尔大学国际法博士学位，曾先后从英国爱丁堡大学和美国纽约大学取得学士和硕士学位。
Dr. Robin Geiss serves as Director of the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR). He is an ex officio member of the UN Secretary-General’s Advisory Board on Disarmament Matters and Affiliate Professor at the University of Glasgow. His research centres on global security, emerging technologies and international affairs, with an extensive publication record. He is the editor of the Oxford Handbook on the International Law of Global Security, the Research Handbook on Warfare and Artificial Intelligence, and the Yearbook of International Humanitarian Law. Dr. Geiss holds a PhD in international law from the University of Kiel, Germany, studied at the University of Edinburgh, UK, and obtained a master’s degree in international legal studies from New York University (NYU), USA.
